Fagun Thakrar is a critically acclaimed actress, writer-director and activist having appeared in a number of Hollywood and international films. She has recently starred alongside Oscar winner Brie Larson and Donald Sutherland and co-starred with Martin Sheen in Bhopal: A Prayer For Rain. This year she will be featuring in a number of upcoming international films.
As a writer-director, Fagun uses filmmaking to educate people’s perspective on the world, directing feature films advocating strong female protagonists. She is also currently directing a documentary film on the intersection between mediation and the brain, due for near release.
Fagun lives between London and Los Angeles, and studied Medicine at University College London, before later training in Classical and Contemporary Acting at the prestigious Royal College of Speech and Drama in London, where she earned a Master's degree. Later, Fagun studied Film Directing at a world-renowned directing school in the USA.
Fagun is actively involved in the industries of fashion, business, teaching, and philanthropy. Non-profit work has always been a big part of Fagun's life, spanning across children, women, empowerment and health, having worked as spokesperson for several international organisations. Fagun later founded her own global non-profit organisation, the Fagun Foundation, dedicated to empowering girls and women across the world to overcome developmental barriers through creativity.
